Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26th every year, people are invited to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy awareness.
UK-based charities Epilepsy Action, Young Epilepsy, and Epilepsy Society have lots of resources on their websites.
Dr Helen Estyn-Jones, Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Epilepsy Lead at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust has obtained support from Gateshead Council to light up the Millennium Bridge purple to celebrate Purple Day and will be down at the Quayside from 5pm on Wednesday 26th March to admire the view and raise awareness and funds for all who live or work with epilepsy.
All are welcome and dressing in purple is encouraged!
