How to Make a Request for Support

Our service accepts requests for support directly from schools. All schools in South Tyneside have access to the Healthy Minds Team so please speak to a member of staff in your child's school if you feel like you and your child would benefit from our support.

What to Expect Following a Referral20240409091641_IMG_8299.JPG
  1. Expect to receive confirmation - Following a request for support from your school to our service, you will receive communication from the Healthy Minds Team as confirmation of being accepted.
  2. Contact from a practitioner - A mental health practitioner will be in touch within 4 weeks of acceptance in the service. This may be via a letter in the post or by phone call. This call may be from an unknown number.
  3. Initial Assessment - To get an idea of what the current difficulties are, we will arrange a time to meet with parents and/or young person. This is called an initial assessment and will take around an hour. Following this, we will discuss the most appropriate steps moving forward. This could include treatment with the child directly or with the parents/carers.
