Children’s Community Mental Health Teams Supporting PRIDE 2024
Sunderland Community Children’s and Young peoples mental health teams are preparing to join the return of Sunderland Pride in June and will be spending National Pride Month raising awareness of the work they do to support the LGBT+ community.
The team works with children and young people aged 0-18 who may be showing signs of emotional distress and/or behavioural difficulties aiming to deal with such difficulties at the earliest possible stage of intervention in the hope that children and young people will develop skills and resilience to promote positive well-being.
The teams will be hosting a service information stall across the pride events and would be great to see you and members of the community on the day. There will be information about our services, advice and signposting as well as freebies and fun to be had.
South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust works throughout the year to support patients and runs its own Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Plus (LGBT+) Staff Network for its workforce.
Throughout June, the Trust will also be working to highlight the support available to staff and patients and raising the Pride flag across all hospitals sites.
The Trust encourages staff to be allies through its Rainbow Badge pledge scheme and runs awareness training, is a member of the Stonewall Diversity Champions programme.
Sunderland pride will feature entertainment, various LGBT+ safe zones, information stalls, and market stalls across as well as a series of satellite events, with the event to mark 52 years since the first Pride march took place in the UK.
During last year’s Pride, our Sunderland Community mental health teams continued to support the campaign working alongside a range of services across the region to support the public attending the amazing Pride events.
