Mental health is our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through to adulthood. At South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust, we provide a range of services for children, young people and adults across Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland.
We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Our mental health is how we’re feeling inside, or how we are emotionally. Our mental health is as important as our physical health. It affects our daily lives – how we feel, as well as our ability do the things we need and want to. It can effect work, study, getting on with people and looking after ourselves and others. Whatever you are feeling, know that this is completely normal. You can find support or speak to family and friends about how you are feeling. Talking can help you find hope again, and feel closer to other people and improve the way you are feeling.
